Auditions for the Inaugural WVJC Ensemble Coming to the West Side!!!

As was announced at the AMEA Conference, the VJC is launching a new ensemble experience for interested music students (grades 8-12, including home-schooled students). The WEST VALLEY JAZZ COOPERATIVE will begin rehearsing on March 11th on the campus of Glendale Community College. Auditions for the group are set for later this month, also at GCC.

Wed., Mar. 1st, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

MU-2, Room 151 (Lecture Hall)

Sat., Mar. 4th, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

MU-2, Room 152 (Band Room)

Auditions to be held at

Glendale Community College

Music Building (MU-2)

6000 W. Olive Ave.

Glendale, AZ 85302 [see map]

Students who want to participate but cannot make either audition date above, should CONTACT ME to set up an individual audition. Our current plan is to have a WVJC group (either a combo or “little big band”, depending on the level of student participation) in place by the beginning of March, with a debut performance sometime in May.

I want to thank Dave Schmidt and his colleagues at Glendale Community College for their partnership in this latest VJC program. And, as always, I want to thank my Music Serving the Word family for their continued support of this educational initiative. Finally, I want to let music students from central Phoenix and the West Valley know what a special learning opportunity is available to them through the VJC (read what others have to say about this).

The East Valley Jazz Cooperative is a great success at MCC. I am excited to see what the future brings with the WVJC at GCC. I encourage you to look around our website to see if you’d like to be part of the first West Valley Jazz Cooperative. We’ll have a lot of fun, playing and learning together.

The VJC: Explore your gifts. Find your passion.
