CURRENT STUDENTS: The main audition cycle for the VJC program (for area music students in grades 8-12) has just concluded. However, there are still a few positions open in the ensembles. We will continue to accept applications from BRASS MUSICIANS for VJC Sapphire and PIANISTS for VJC Cerulean & VJC Sapphire, until all ensemble slots are filled. Please consider joining us by applying & auditioning for the VJC's 10th anniversary season in 2025-26!

NEW EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH FROM MSW: Hansley Mussotte has recently joined the MSW-Education team to launch a new program in February 2026. Titled the Valley Gospel Project, it is a vocal/choral-focused initiative that will meet on Monday nights at Ravenscroft. Anyone with interest in singing gospel music as part of the Valley Gospel Project can CLICK HERE to learn more.
EDUCATORS: Check out the Flexible Instrumentation Big Band charts from VJC Publications. And listen to this great new music on our YouTube channel. VJC Publications offers flex. charts without compromise, designed to sound great—and complete—with just the minimum instrumentation (11 pieces). And of course, they sound truly spectacular with a full, 18-piece big band. Given the unpredictable nature of band program size from year to year, VJC Publications represents a great investment for any music library. And 100% of every VJC Publication purchase goes back into supporting the educational activities of the Valley Jazz Cooperative.

FRIENDS & FANS: Our next concert is the VJC Winter Performance. It is scheduled for Sun., Feb. 1st @ 3 PM in Ravenscroft Hall in Scottsdale. The performance features VJC Cerulean (a combo) and VJC Indigo (a big band).
SUPPORT

The VJC is grateful for partners in music education throughout the Valley. As an educational outreach of MSW Ministries, MSW is the VJC’s founding partner. Back in September 2021, Ravenscroft became the VJC’s primary (and permanent) program host. Additionally, in December 2023, the Mesa Community College (in collaboration with leading area jazz educator Paul Brewer) resumed a partnership with the VJC.

Originally, back in 2016, we were blessed to partner with Paul and MCC on a group that came to be know as the East Valley Jazz Cooperative. A year later, we expanded our educational offerings to launch a West Valley Jazz Cooperative at Glendale Community College, with the help and support of longtime-GCC educator Dave Schmidt. We remain grateful to Dave for that fruitful relationship. And we are delighted to have resumed our partnership with Paul Brewer and MCC, after a couple of (pandemic-induced) years apart.

Undoubtedly, we will continue to explore potential partnerships in the community with those who recognize the benefits that Valley Jazz Cooperative educational programs offer students. If your organization or institution is interested in an educational partnership with the VJC, please contact the VJC Director to examine the possiblities.
