EVJC's Debut Performance May 11

The debut performance of the East Valley Jazz Cooperative will take place at the Nash on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 @ 7:00 p.m. An all-star high school student group under the direction of Russell Schmidt, the EVJC is the first ensemble created through the Valley Jazz Cooperative program, an educational initiative of Music Serving the Word.
This 10-piece ensemble will perform music by John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Oliver Nelson, and other jazz legends. Additionally, the EVJC will be joined on the program by the Russell Schmidt Sextet, featuring Denny Monce (trumpet), Brice Winston (tenor sax), Mike Lake (alto trombone), Dwight Kilian (bass) and Dom Moio (drums). The performance will conclude with a few numbers combining the EVJC with members of the sextet, as well as a Senior Showcase to honor graduating students.
Tickets for this special event are priced at $10 for general admission, $5 for college students (w/ ID), and free for those 18 & under.
Proceeds from ticket sales will support youth summer education programs at the Nash.
