VJCP521-FBB – Flexible Instrumentation Jazz Ensemble Chart, which has been written to sound complete with as few as 11 pieces or as many as a full (18-piece) big band. The instrumentation is as follows:

Description: A medium-up tempo swing chart, Strike Up the Band is a real “flag waver” from arranger Tom Davis. After an intro that sets up a uniquely captivating musical environment, the arrangement moves toward a more straight ahead, Basie-style approach, which is contrasted by a two-beat feel on the bridge of the Head In. After solo space for trumpet, piano, and drum set, there is even a “double recapitulation”, with two contrasting treatments of George Gershwin’s enduring and memorable melody. Performers and audience members alike will love this fresh treatment of Strike Up the Band!
 
This big band arrangement is of intermediate-to-advanced difficulty.
