EVJC NEWS Updates

Greetings, Friends of the Valley Jazz Cooperative! I have a couple of pieces of news to provide, updating the activities of the East Valley Jazz Cooperative.

SAVE THE DATES!

1) FIRST Public EVJC Combo Performance!

At 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016, I will lead the East Valley Jazz Cooperative in a brief matinee performance at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church (1159 N. Greenfield Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85234-2845). The current EVJC line-up features a jazz combo of outstanding high school and junior high students. They will be performing compositions by John Coltrane, Freddie Hubbard, and other great jazz artists.

The concert is free and open to the public.

2) WINTER 2016 Audition Schedule

The dates, times, and locations for the latest wave of EVJC auditions have just been announced. They are:

Thursday, November 17, 2016 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.

Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church

1159 N. Greenfield Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85234-2845. [see map]

EVJC Auditions for ALL instruments EXCEPT drum set.

EVJC Auditions for ALL instruments.

These auditions have been scheduled after the conclusion of the Arizona marching band season, allowing us to expand our EVJC combo into a jazz ensemble, providing even more students with the uniquely beneficial Valley Jazz Cooperative experience.

Students who want to participate in the EVJC but cannot make either audition date above, should CONTACT ME to set up an individual audition.

I’m really excited about the first concert of the season, which will also be our first-ever public combo performance. I also have great anticipation for this next wave of upcoming auditions, which will allow the Valley Jazz Cooperative to serve a growing number of talented young musicians. And we’ll be making additional announcements---other EVJC performances, expanded VJC educational opportunities, and so forth---in the next month, so please stay tuned.

Great times together and valuable instruction continue on with the Valley Jazz Cooperative. Thank you for your interest in our activities!
